Duoergun and the Relation Between Nationalities in the Earty Qing Dynasty
【Abstract】 Duoergun was an outstanding politician and strategist in the Qing Dynasty and one of the representative figures who had made great contributions in the history of Man nationality. While in his post,he established contact with some major bordering nationalities with great courage and resourlefulness. Through he used the marriages, sending the ambassador, trading, giving titles or exerting the military pressure,to develop the relationships with Monan, Mobei, Moxi, and the Tibet, Xinjiang, so that those minority gathering places have the close relationships with the hinderland in the early Qing Dynasty. Though he inevitably had some historical limitations as a landlord class politician and a fendal ruler,a series of policies and measures he had taken to restore and develop the relationships between nations were of great importance to improve the national relations, consolidating and enlarging the territory, which laid a foundation for forming a multi-nation country in later years.
